Judge: MAURICE COOKE
Steward: Squares - Tim Gilbert and Val Upton; control – Val Upton
Gate steward and stays: Angel Porter
Thanks to the Society for the invite; we had a lovely weekend. The sun was hot, but a nice breeze off the sea kept us cool. My thanks to my hard working stewards.
26 entered, and it looked like being a long day, but with 6 scratches we coped well. There was the usual mixed standard for CD, with searches, jumps and stays taking their toll. Congratulations to the qualifiers.
1st Mr F Glancy, MISTERGEES COOL JAZZ , GSD, 90, Qual. Good performance, with 3 from the square, and 19 for the jumps, but the control was a little bit untidy. Well done, and good luck in UD and above.
2nd Doug Tungatt, NOVEM SONGBIRD, GSD, 89, Qual
3rd Doug Tungatt, BOZETON EYES WIDE OPEN, GSD, 83, Qual. Congratulations on qualifying both your dogs. Good polished performances from both – the bitch just had the edge today.
4th Ms H Kelly, LAETARE DYAMI, BC, 85.5. Very nice attempt from this team, only the jumps let you down, with no long and a messy scale. Congratulations on your UDEx this weekend.

Thanks to the Society for the invitation to judge at Scarborough. After all the rain, we had 4 lovely days of sunshine. What a beautiful setting for a trial, with our control field on the edge of the country, overlooking the sparkling sea! Lovely competitors, and an excellent steward.
An entry of 26, split over 2 days, meant 13 dogs per day. We started with the control and agility at 9.00 am and our last track on Friday ran at 6.30 pm. On Saturday we fared a bit better. We started at 8.45 am and with fewer moves to new land we finished at about 5.30 pm. This really is too long a day, especially for my steward. The saving grace was that the sun shone all day. Many thanks to my tracklayers, the base crew and to Barry and Linda.
1st Mrs J Meekings, STYPERSON BRIG AT WINDLEBROOK, Lab, 192.5, Qual. Given a good experienced handler with a well bred working dog, what else did I expect? Tracked second on Saturday - beautiful track with both articles and four out of the square, having already done an excellent control round, with full mark jumps. Well done, Judy – good luck for the future.
2nd Mr and Mrs Lewindon, BRACOKELI DELIVERANCE, GSD, 191.5, Qual. The best of eight good Shepherds in this stake, handled by Sandra. One of the very late tracks on Friday, this was another excellent track, with 2 and 4. A second attempt on the long jump was costly, but very nicely handled – a very happy pair.
3rd Mr P Turner, TOP SHELF ZAC, WSD, 177.5, Qual. Nice accurate track, but only three out of the square. Again, a second attempt at the long jump. Well done.
4th Mr J MasSheder, PENTLAND VITHFARI, GSD, 177.5, Qual. Almost the last to track on Saturday, at the end of a very long hot day this pair just came on the field and got on with it. Steady and accurate, and then four out of the square. 19 for agility, but heelwork and retrieve require some work. Go for it – he can do it. Good luck.
Also qualified UDEx:
Ms A Bedford, ABIS NEVER SAY DIE, Cross. Best (full mark) track.
Ms H Kelly, LAETARE DYAMI, BC. Have confidence in him.
Mrs H Morris, CARISHILL PARSLEY, G Ret, handled by Jill Carruthers.
Mrs S Shearsmith, MINTERBURN HOBBY HAWK, Lab.
Mr R Shrimpton, CORNDON TAFF AT GRELGANNA, BC.
Mrs T Whorwood, RUSKIN SEA SHEPHERD, GSD.

I would like to thank ASPADS for their invitation to judge WD. To all the helpers at the base, and the ladies in the kitchen for all the excellent food, thank you for making it a really nice few days.
To my tracklayers Sue, Val, Barry and Arthur, thank you for giving up your time to lay the tracks.
My search steward, Val Isherwood, laid search squares for 2 day before having to go home ill (hope you’re on the mend now). I then had Tim Gilbert for 2 days - thanks Tim, you did a great job. Pat Hodgkins stewarded the control for all 4 days and put the competitors at ease. You were all great company - thank you. Thank you to Barry and Linda for all their hard work running the trial
The weather was really nice considering what we have been having. The tracking land was grass, and I saw some really nice tracks and control rounds.
1st Mrs K Ingram, ObCh RUSKATH OTHENTIC IMAGE, CDEx, UDEx, WSD, 191. A nice track and excellent search followed by a good control round gave this pair the top spot.

Thank you to ASPADS committee for the invitation to judge and to Barry Gilbert, who with his team of helpers ran an excellent trial. A huge thanks to Linda Cammidge and her team in the kitchen who kept me supplied with chocolate and had my lunchtime egg sandwich ready as I walked through the door! Also thanks to whoever ordered the weather, although windy and a couple of days rather cold, it stayed dry all week.
My tracklayers all did a sterling job following my instructions to the letter. My search stewards did alternate days until Joan was called home. Thank you all very much for your efforts and your company.
Tracking was on grass and I was privileged to judge some excellent nosework. Unfortunately a couple of days were very windy and this took its toll. After the nosework I had 35 qualifiers.
32 qualifiers turned up for the control on Sunday. The sendaway was approximately 75 yards at a slight angle to a fence, with a re-direction across the field at an angle to an open gateway, which was approximately 175 yards. The speak was tied-up with the handler behind the scale. At the end of the day there were 24 qualifiers.
1st Winning the Kennel Club Working Trials Certificate, Suzanne Plumb, COLLIEWOOD CAVALLERO, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, TDEx, WSD, D, 213.5. Bandit really worked very well, losing 1.5 on the nosework and 3 on the control.
2nd Reserve Certificate, Margaret Robinson, WTCh TYTRI LACE OF TRENTVALLEY, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, TDEx, BC, B, 212.5. Well done Margaret, I know you were pleased to get round the track.
3rd Anne Bussey, WTCh ROMENO IF SIX WAS NINE, OW, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, TDEx, WSD, D, 211. Another consistent performance from Grad.
4th Glenys Page, BRIGLEN NUTMEG, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, TDEx, WSD, B, 210. Good all round performance from Meg.
