Trials Manager's Report

Firstly I would like to thank BAGSD for the invitation to be Trials Manager.  This year, a new venue, my thanks go to Carl and Arthur Rivers for the use of their land for the base, along with Kenny and Joyce Stuart whose land was used for the tracking stake.

PD Judge, Tracey Park did a brilliant job on Sunday, informed everyone so well, what was going on, during and after the patrol, makes it much more of a spectator sport.  Thanks Tracey.

CD Judge Val Scott, very nervous, almost as nervous as the competitors, but you did a great job.

Thanks Val.  I will leave it to the judges to thank the stewards in their reports.

This year the catering was magnificent.  Thanks to Carol, Sheila and Roseanne, my granddaughter.  They worked very hard to satisfy everyone's appetite.

A big thank you to my other half Brian, for his help and support, before, during and after the trial, and to all who donated raffle prizes, again it was much appreciated.

To all competitors I hope you enjoyed the trial and good luck for the future.

Stake : CD

Steward : Sheila Margraves

Many thanks to BAGSD for the invitation to judge CD, my first judging appointment.  Thanks to trials manager, Glenys Page and Sheila Margreaves, my steward, who put the competitors at ease and kept me on my toes.  I hope the competitors enjoyed it as much as I did.  Those who qualified and the non qualified - keep training - its just around the corner.

Finally, thanks to Arthur and Carol Rivers for the overnight accommodation at their beautiful venue.

1st           Mrs Ann Dent with GHYLLBECK PALLASI (LARGE MUNSTERLANDER) Q93.5.  A nice team, well deserved win.

2nd         Miss M. Brickwell with HARTWOOD HILL EMBLEM (LAB) Q87.  A nice round.  Well done.  Good luck in the future.

3rd          Miss J. Townsend with TENVRAS QUEST (LAB) Q84.5.  Another nice round.  Well done.  Tess worked well.

4th          Mrs. J. Thompson with LITTLE PRINCE OF GRIMBALD (LAB) NQ85.5.  A nice control round Julia, the scale preventing a qualification today, keep up the good work, it will come in the end.

PD Stake

Tracklayers: Jeff Margreaves & Graham Reaney

Steward: John Watts

Criminals: Steve Lancashire, Tom Davis, Simon Bainbridge & Angie Smith

Firstly I would like to thank the Society for the invitation to judge the PD stake, to Glenys & Brian Page for all their help in sorting out the fields etc, to Carol & Arthur Rivers for kindly allowing us the use of their land, the ladies in the food caravan & Roseanne (hope you did well in CD)!?  My Tracklayers were first class, my criminals did a fantastic job even though two of them ended up on the deck (we won't mention any names Steve & Tom - Oops!!!), and my Steward John was brilliant throughout the whole day.  Thank you all.

I had set a test which would show how dog & handler should work as a team & whichever team did this would inevitably turn out to be the winner, and on this occasion proved to be true.

We started with 7 entries, 3 scratched, leaving us with 4 to work on the day.  All 4 completed the nosework with ease & the control & agility.  However after the manwork we were left with only 1 qualifier.

1st           Q. 295.5   Lee Payne & SWEET ASSASIN. WSD.  Lee's experience ensured another good win for  himself and Buzz.  I was very impressed with the way Buzz worked taking everything in his stride.  You thoroughly deserved you qualification & win.  Good Luck in Ticket.

2nd         NQ. 241   Joan Miller & TRKINDALE ACE. WSD.   Joan, you & Ricky gave a good account of yourselves, just a little more work & I think he will do you proud in PD.

3rd          NQ. 222   John Gray & GRITTON BROOK MECCA. Malinois.  Well John, Mouse certainly likes to chase, and does it very well, unfortunately likes to chase on the recall as well.  Keep at it I am sure it will come.  Next time could you please leave Mr Watts' pants up. (Oh them big purple undies).

4th          NQ. 214   John Reynolds & JACK THE LAD OF VALGRAY. WSD.   John those big knickers you found certainly tickled your fancy and gave us all a good laugh.  Jack just needs a few more scenarios in training and his confidence will soon grow.
