I have always enjoyed my visits to Ireland and this was no exception. Their warmth and charm makes standing in a bleak landscape in the cold months of winter an excellent experience. My thanks to John Mangan for the use of his land, grass that had not been grazed since the previous year and remarkably dry underfoot, making excellent tracking conditions throughout the weekend. Sincere thanks to my helpers; tracklayers, Anne Collen, Vicky Dixon, Sandra Meenan, and Stan Ford, and search stewards Diana Collie, Caroline Walsh and Vicky Dixon.
1st Miriam Lyons and KALIYON LAOISE, Border Collie, 187.5, Q. Excellent track and search. Well-deserved qualification.
2nd Neil Lowndes and NANA’S BILLY BOY, Nov. Ex, Border Collie, 185.5, Q. Another excellent nosework – winner of best track trophy.
3rd Neil Lowndes and THE SUCADOURA, Springer cross, 180, Q. Again, good nosework and excellent line handling by handler.
1st Vicky Dixon and RUSTIX ALI, Mali, 158. Excellent search, was keen and well handled. Best Track Trophy
1st Samantha Rawson and WTCh RYAN’S DAUGHTER, Collie cross, 208, Q. Worthy winner of stake with excellent nosework. Got stronger as she went on tracking.
2nd Miriam Lyons and KALIYON CAOIBHE, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, TDEx, Border Collie, 198, Q. Very good track and perfect mark square.
Also cracking nosework round from Jeff Poole and FIRCROFT DOMINI, CDEx, UDEx, WDEx, AEEx, losing just four nosework marks. Prior to Jeff tracking I did think the line handling of several other handlers had improved – I think I might have found out why! Judith’s Border Collie was recovering from former injury and found the agility too demanding, unfortunately.
My thanks to all for a most enjoyable weekend in Ireland. Great to see the country getting back to normal following the recession.
