Square and C/A Steward:  Brian Riste

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge the UD stake, thanks also to Jayne Sutherland, the Trials Manager.  To my two tracklayers, Zoe and Norma - you did a great job in laying all the tracks on time exactly as I requested; thanks also to Brian for the search squares.  To the ladies in the kitchen and to Jan at base, also to Pat for making sure that everything ran smoothly at the tracking land, a very big thank you to you all for making it a friendly, well run trial.

I would like to say a big thank you to Sue Ashby for welcoming Brian, myself and our three Gordons into her home where we were all put at ease, again a big thank you.

Tracking was on very well grown rape, the weather was fine for both days.

1st Sarah Moore with KIZZIE WIZZIE OF MOORELANDS, X-Breed, 187, Q UDEx.  Worked very well in all sections.  Well done, Sarah.

2nd David Sidaway with PRECIOUS PEGG ALFIE, Bearded Collie, 183, Q UDEx.  Again, worked well in each section. Well done, David.

3rd Graham Taylor with GERONIMO BATES, WSD, NQ.  Shame about the jumps today, qualified in all other sections; your day will come.

4th  Paul Thornton with LIMASMYTHE BROWNS BUSTER, GSD, NQ.  Worked well in all sections but just did not quite make it this time.

Thank you to all my competitors; I enjoyed your company and watching your dogs work

My thanks to Leamington for inviting me to judge their ticket.  It was a good week, all 8 days of it, with super company.  The weather was varied, with a couple of sessions of rain, a couple of days that were damp and drizzly, and a lot of the time a very strong wind.  By the weekend the weather was improving and Sunday was a lovely warm day.

Many thanks to my tracklayers, Tom (the early tracks) Mark, Arthur and Eric.  My thanks to Kate, who laid squares from Sunday until Tuesday, and to Claire who laid squares from Wednesday until Saturday.  Thank you all for your help, you were good company and did a great job.

My thanks to Jane for being Trials Manager and to Pat and Kate for all their help.  Thanks to Jan in base doing all the scores etc and to all other helpers including Julia Skipp who found a TD control field at the 11th hour!  Finally my thanks to all the ladies who worked hard in the kitchen.

The tracking was on a good covering of crop and all TD tracks were in one field; thanks to the farmer for allowing us to use this land.  There were 70 entries in TD, 60 worked and 33 were qualifying after the nosework.  I really enjoyed watching you all track during the week and I saw some lovely tracks and searches.  I set what I thought was a fair test for the ground and conditions.  Articles on the track were basically for the dog to find, although one or two handlers and dogs should have gone to Specsavers!

Sunday was lovely and sunny.  Many thanks to Zoe for stewarding the C/A for several hours - you did a great job.   I apologise for the heelwork being uphill but the top of the hill was the only place I could see the whole field for the sendaway.

I ended up with 17 dogs qualifying TDEx.

1st Andy Baker with WTCh SID THE LEMON SQUEEZER, BC, D, 205.5, TDEx.  A good track and a full mark search  You kept your cool in the C/A, which left you with a lead of 2.5 marks.  Very well done, Andy.

2nd   Sheila Tannert with WTCh STYPERSON CLEO, Lab, B, 203, TDEx.  Teal lost some marks on the track but a full mark search, and a good control round gave you a run off for second place.  Well done, Sheila.

3rd Yvonne Carpenter with HEX AT CARFELD, BC, B, 203.  A very nice track and search.  Unlucky in the run-off, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.  Well done, Yvonne.

4th Tony Lockyer with LAWINICK COME N GET IT AT HARTSHILL, GSD, B, 202.5.  Nice track and full mark search.  But sendaway was a bit expensive today.  Well done, Tony.
