Trials Manager’s Report

Another successful trial due to an excellent team of helpers-many thanks to all you. Big thanks to the farmers, who are as obliging as ever, and to Arden Grange for their kind sponsorship of our trial.

Jean and June looked after the base and I am very grateful to Jean and Peter for all the hard work they have put in ahead of the trial.

Many thanks to Malc and Joan Snowden for putting up (or putting up with?) June, myself and judges. Jean and Pete also looked after the TD judge, so thanks to them as well.

The judges all set good and fair tests and I think the competitors enjoyed them-I certainly heard no complaints. Grateful thanks must go to Lol Campbell for stepping in to judge WD at short notice when Cammidge had to withdraw through ill health. I hope you’re OK now, Mike.

It goes without saying, but once again Bob Carter and his now ‘regular’ team of Annie and Jenny looked after the kitchen and were brilliant-thanks everyone!

Firstly I must thank the Society for giving me the opportunity to judge the C.D. stake at their Championship Trial. The trial was as always run in an efficient and good humoured way, especially by the trials secretary, Jean Morley, the trials manager Nigel Hines, both seeing that everything was done to make my weekend that much easier, as did Simon, my steward who did everything I asked of him and put all the competitors at their ease; all done in a freezing cold wind that lasted all day. My thanks also go to June, Anne and Jenny in the kitchen who gratefully supplied us with a hot lunch which kept us going.

There were 21 entries of which 14 competed. The test was straight forward with no catches, the articles being 8” length of electric cable, a 2” length of garden hose and a slice of 2” cardboard tube none of these proving too difficult, but not all dogs found them all. The rest of the test was just basic control and agility with six dogs failing by way of the stays.

The results were as follows;

1st           Tracy Addison with CARISHILL BRAZILLIAN (TIA) Golden Retriever 93/100

2nd         Kate Peyton with JHAVA RUFFIAN (lottie) Rottweiller 93

3rd          Rob Currie with VOMHAUSNYE PUNK (GSD). 92.5

4th          Janine Atkinson with STILLMOOR QUAY TO MY SUCCESS (quay) 87.5

Also qualifying;

Cath Chadwick with KERCHAK DANCING RHAPSODY (quaver) 87.5

Deborah Meade with HEATHERMARK VIXON (flick) 85

Joanna Hebdon with DARLING LASSIE (cassie) 82.5

I hope that the competitors had as good a time as I did and I wish them all the best in trials in the future.

Tracklayers: Tom Darby, Nigel Hines, Andrea Lynd, Andy Magyar, Malcolm Snowden.

Stewards: Judith Owens (squares), Simon Bainbridge (C&A)

My thanks to the Society for the invitation to judge the T.D. stake at this trial. It was a great honour, as always to be asked. It was a very well organized event, with a great team of helpers, both in and outside the base, thanks to all of you for such a good job. The ground conditions were excellent with a good level of growth across the two big fields that we used. The weather, however, was not so kind with some very strong winds on two of the tracking days, making the going pretty tough for some of the dogs. Having said that all gave of their very best and we were privileged to see some first class tracks. The squares were, generally, not so good with a lot of mouthing and dropping of articles. The speak exercise was conducted after the square and again was not that well performed. The rest of the control exercises were conducted at Lincoln Showground and the standard was very good overall. There were 18 nosework qualifiers, 11 qualified Tracking Dog Excellent. Well done to all of you, it was a pleasure to judge you again. Thanks for the sporting spirit throughout.

1st           and C.C. Dave Marchant with W.T. Ch. WAGGERLAND MISTER JAKE. The second of 2 great weekends for this team. I had the pleasure of seeing a fine round at Wakefield P.D. and then judging a first class performance at Lincoln T.D. Well done, all that hard work has obviously paid off. Good luck at the K.C.C.’s

2nd         and reserve C.C. Sheila Tannert with W.T. Ch. STYPERSON BRIAR. Only half a mark behind the winner at the end. An all round good performance, well done Sheila.

3rd          Pat Parkinson and W.T. Ch. DREAGANTA DOUBLE DECKER AMONG MELNOLA. Only 1 mark behind 2nd place. Another good performance from this very professional team.

4th          Jane Webb with FLYNNTASTIC WININ VENTURE. A steady all round performance. Well done.
