Thanks to YWTS for the judging appointment. Big thanks to Dave Stewart and his team – the ladies in the kitchen and Sheila on the desk. Thanks also to the farmers for the use of the land. And thank you to my team in the field – you did a brilliant job.

It was a pleasure to judge these young dogs. 15 dogs tracked, 13 qualified on the track and 12 qualified the nosework section. Well done to you all.

1st Pat Parkinson, WAGGERLAND MY SHADOW, 198, Q. The marks say it all! Well done – also best nosework.

2nd Jacky Lloyd, LITTLE COOPER AT BROOKSBID, 194, Q. Worked the first track and set the standard with 89. Well done.

3rd Ann Clarke, TADMARTON EVITA, Q. Lost just half a mark on the track. Well done.

4th Ray Lea, GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY, 190.5, Q. Full mark track, great to watch.

Also qualified:

STAKE: WD NOSEWORK

Judge: LEN NEWMAN

Tracklayers: John Atkin and Tom Mills

Steward: Le Newman

Thanks to Yorkshire WTS for the invitation to judge; it is always well run, and has a good atmosphere thanks to Dave Stewart and his team.

The tracking ground was a good growth of crop and plenty of area allowing the track layers freedom - thanks to Phil Horsfield, the land owner. My tracklayers were John Atkin and Tom Mills and search steward Lé Newman, who all did a splendid job. The food was excellent from the only Michelin star restaurant in West Bretton, with Delia, Nigella and Mary Berry at the helm.

The track was 848 long with 12 legs with larger articles suitable for lush growth. I felt that a lot of dogs were not ready for WD. The searches were a low standard, with nobody getting four articles. At the end we finished with four qualifiers. The other handler qualifying in this section we lost with the hanging judge Craven.

1st Margaret Robinson, JUST ARRAN AT TRENTVALLEY, CDEx, UDEx, WSD, 188.5, Q. Best Tracking Section, 86.5, 2/20, 3/27

2nd S Williams (handler June Reed), SHADOWQUEST ONE AND ONLY, GSD, 180, Q. Best Track, 87.5, 2/20, 2/20.

3rd Jane Clarke, SKYE’S OVER THE TOP, WSD, 174, Q. 84, 2/20, 3/24.

4th Kim Astbury, CHASING A DREAM, CDEx, UDEx, WSD, 173.5, Q. 85, 2/20, 3/19.

How we handlers can change from going to the start of the track calling our dogs "Sweetheart", then, when standing holding an article in the square, calling "You cow"!

STAKE: TD NOSEWORK

 Judge: DAVE OLLEY

Tracklayers: Chris Trevor (Fri and Sat), Alan Bexon (Sat), Richard Musgrave (Sun), Brian Page (Sun) and Jeff Margraves (Sun).

Search Stewards: Jenny Olley (Fri and Sat), Karen Bexon (Sun)

Thank you to YWTS for the invitation to judge, and to Dave Stewart and his fantastic team, as ever first class. Thanks also to all my helpers in the field, you did a great job. Finally thanks to all the competitors, who very much impressed me with the standard of nosework, which was helped by the excellent land provided by the farmers.

1st Andy Fox with STARDELL MUSCIDA, BC, D 216, Q. A very powerful, committed dog, well handled by Andy. Congratulations on your win.

2nd Julz Findeisen with BANDAITCH DIRTY HARRY, X-Breed, D 215.5, Q. Julz and Harry tracked on the first day, and like Andy set the standard. Well done.

3rd Sue Jones, DURSTONE BRYN, WSD, D, 213, Q, and best nosework. Last track on the Sunday, breath taking power and accuracy.

4th Terry Austin with MANPOL VIXEN, GDS, B, 212.5, Q. Terry tracked on the Saturday, another very impressive and accurate team.
